A group of students who are participating in a university's summer science camp are drawn into an incredible quagmire of conflicts, ranging from the relatively simple conflict between an engaging and forthright young teacher and his older manipulative colleague, to a contest pitting political correctness against free scientific inquiry. Despite the murkiness of some of the issues in the latter conflict, the students pitch in enthusiastically on what they believe to be the side of righteousness, and passions rise to fever pitch. ~ Clarke Fountain, All Movie Guide。乡村大厨以体育赢得爱情——村头饭馆的大厨张二勇喜欢张村长的女儿笑笑，但笑笑的父亲竭力阻拦两人的情感。这时张、王、李三个村盖新学校的事定下来了：三个村联合办个运动会，让三个村的小学生来参加。哪个村得第一新学校就在哪个村盖。张家村孩子的体育成绩一向最差，张村长一筹莫展。大厨张二勇得知消息后，告诉张村长他从前在县体校当过教练，可以带孩子们赢，但有个条件--要是赢了，张村长以后不许干涉他和笑笑的事。于是大厨张二勇带着五个“种子选手”踏上了一场前所未有的训练之路……。
